The Institute for Mobility and Life in Motion (IMM) is a cross-faculty research institute at Munich University of Applied Sciences that focusses on sustainable mobility and technology of the future. Merging disciplines such as acoustics, driving dynamics, aeronautical engineering, accident research, artificial intelligence, and design leads to groundbreaking innovations.
Welcome to the IMM Institute! Founded in 2024, the IMM brings together ten professorships from the Faculties of Mechanical, Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as Design. Thanks to this interdisciplinary collaboration, we develop mobility solutions that put people at the centre. With expertise ranging from vehicle dynamics and acoustics to accident research and design, we create pioneering approaches for the mobility of tomorrow - safe, sustainable and progressive.

IMM welcomes control engineering expert Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manuel Pusch as a new member
The IMM-Institute Council voted on January 20, 2025, to admit Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manuel Pusch as a new member. Prof. Pusch focuses on the modeling, control, and optimization of wind turbines, aerospace systems, and flexible structures. His theoretical interests include robust performance analysis, decoupling strategies, and model order reduction.
IMM-PhD Candidates at AIAA SciTech 2025 in Orlando
PhD candidates from the IMM Institute presented their research on AI-based wind forecasting, drone control, gust load mitigation and system identification at the AIAA SciTech 2025. The international conference provided valuable opportunities for exchange in aerospace research. A highlight was the rocket launch at Cape Canaveral.
Professors Sentpali and Pfeffer receive Research-Professorship
The Institute for Mobility and Life in Motion congratulates Professor Stefan Sentpali and Professor Peter Pfeffer on being awarded a research professorship, which was conferred upon them by Vice President Sonja Munz for their outstanding research activities. With the support of Munich University of Applied Sciences, IMM’s research activities will be strengthened, and the institute’s future initiatives will be promoted.
