Prof. Dr. Andreas Schmitt

Research Group Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing

Karlstraße 6, F 306
80333 München

Andreas Schmitt was appointed as Professor of Applied Geodesy at the Faculty of Geoinformation. His many years of research and development work focused on the consistent data processing of multimodal radar images from space into so-called Analysis Ready Data. In recent years, the fusion of multisensory images and their automatic interpretation by means of advanced algorithms has become more and more important. His developments have found many applications, for example, in the mapping of mussel beds, submerged vegetation, arctic coastal zones, windthrow areas, glaciers and ice sheets, and even in the detection of informal settlements in urban areas. Current work revolves around automatic pattern recognition from high-dimensional datasets.
