AIDER

Artificial Intelligence Desaster Relief

The AIDER project aims to revolutionize aerial firefighting through the use of autonomous, unmanned drone swarms. These drones are capable of operating under challenging conditions and can remain in service around the clock.

Launched in January 2024 and funded by the Bavarian Aviation Research Program, the project involves partners such as the Technical University of Munich, Airbus, EDM Aerotech GmbH, as well as advisory institutions like the State Fire Brigade School/Fire Brigade Bavaria and the Bavarian Police Helicopter Squadron.

The current focus is on developing operational standards, a comprehensive system simulation, and algorithms for trajectory planning and swarm management. In the next steps, the knowledge gained will be integrated into the "Concept of Operations," and the simulation will be further developed.

Lead: Prof. Alexander Knoll and Prof. Daniel Ossmann

Duration: 01.01.2024 – 31.12.2026
