Michael Schmitt is a professor at the Faculty of Geoinformation with a focus on remote sensing. His professional focus is on the combined analysis of optical and radar remote sensing data, especially for large-scale and automated mapping tasks. For this purpose, algorithms of image and signal processing, data fusion, and machine learning are developed that are specifically adapted to the respective sensor and data situation.
