After graduating in civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich and EPFL Lausanne, Jörg Jungwirth worked at the Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) in Davos analyzing avalanche impact on structures. At the Chair of Concrete Structures at EPFL/ETH Lausanne he then investigated the mechanical behavior of the innovative high-performance material UHP(FR)C; concluding his work with his PhD Thesis on the "Tensile Behavior of UHPFRC".

Mr Jungwirth continued his career as Managing Director for international projects at the engineering firm SSF Ingenieure AG. Here his main focus was on international large-scale transport infrastructure projects. For over a decade, he planned and realized, among others, major bridges, high-speed railway and metro projects in countries such as China, Qatar, Algeria, Brazil, etc.

In 2016, Mr Jungwirth was appointed as a professor at the School of Civil Engineering at Munich University of Applied Sciences. He teaches and carries out research with a focus on concrete structures, post-tensioned concrete and engineering structures. In 2021, he was appointed research professor at Munich University of Applied Sciences in the context of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria. In addition, since 2021 he member of the Research Institute for Materials and Building Structures at Munich University of Applied Sciences.

His research focuses on application of UHPFRC for construction practice, the development of innovative systems for transport infrastructure structures and the development of digital planning methods and construction methods (BIM, 3D printing).

Since 2017, Jörg Jungwirth has been working independently as an expert and consulting engineer for design, development and consulting projects with his engineering firm 'Prof. Dr. Jungwirth Beratende Ingenieure'.
