Steel Construction, Composite Construction

Prof. Dr.-Ing. André Dürr

The research field of steel construction and composite construction is supervised by Prof. Dr. André Dürr. In this research field, steel structures in particular, which are used in civil engineering in the field of building and bridge construction as well as in mechanical engineering in the field of crane and agricultural machinery construction, are researched in terms of efficiency and integrity within the framework of structural analyses and test programs.

Within the scope of the research projects carried out so far, welded structures in particular have been analyzed and investigated. The focus of these was on the fatigue strength of large-scale tests, hollow section structures and the application of modern, high-strength steel grades.

In the course of his earlier work as a civil engineer, Prof. Dr. André Dürr also dealt intensively with the topics of composite construction, anchoring technology and the protection of structures against extraordinary threats. Several publications and completed research projects show the expertise in these fields. An expansion of the research area to include these topics will therefore be pursued in the future.
