As a collaborative project between Munich University of Applied Sciences and the clinics of LMU and TUM, CANTER was established in 2011 with the goal of developing methods and technologies for the creation of three-dimensional tissue constructs. These constructs are intended for use in basic research, pharmaceutical research, and ultimately clinical research. The research focuses on the additive manufacturing of bio-based and biological materials (biofabrication) and the investigation of the structure and mechanical properties of healthy, pathologically altered, and laboratory-engineered tissues and tissue constructs using high-resolution techniques.
