Impact of Real Grid Conditions on AC Charging Behavior of Electric Vehicles
This work examines the potential of electric vehicles to contribute to grid stability during AC charging by analyzing their charging behavior under diverse grid conditions. To achieve this, a laboratory test bench was designed to simulate and reproduce various realistic grid profiles, enabling a detailed evaluation of the electric vehicles' responses. The analysis revealed that electric vehicles predominantly act as constant current sinks during charging, regardless of grid voltage and frequency fluctuations. Based on these findings, specific recommendations are provided to enhance the grid-friendliness of AC charging, focusing on technical adaptations and control strategies to mitigate potential impacts on grid stability.
