Motivations to Share Transportation Data

App for Sharing Transportation Data

02. June 2020.

Together with the City of Munich, a team of students tried to find a way to improve the mobility and infrastructure in Munich. They developed a new feature for the already existing app "München" that would make it possible for commuters, visitors and citizens in Munich to share their transportation data with the city while travelling. That way, the city would hope to get a better overview of the current transport situation and to be able to intervene faster. In return, the users of the app would collect points for each data share and could then receive a rewards in form of vouchers of early-bird tickets for events in Munich eventually.

The challenge was supported by Amazon Web Services, who helped the students in finding a solution with the "Working Backwards" innovation strategy. The City of Munich is planning to use the results of the challenges for future projects.

The full report on the challenge can be found here.
