3D-LID

3D power transformers with integrated choke

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Simon Schramm

The 3D-Lid project is concerned with the further development of high-frequency and high-power transformers with integrated, additional chokes, as used in modern high-performance electronics, e.g. DC-DC converters with galvanic isolation. For better utilization of the active material, different core materials are used to further increase the power density and efficiency.

In addition, the influences of different geometries are investigated. The design process of the transformers is supported by numerical simulation and the results achieved are validated on special test benches. The project is being carried out together with the manufacturer of high-performance magnetic components, Inductron and is funded by the Bavarian Research Foundation.
