Need for reform of the grid fee system and grid connection systems

For many years, the current grid fee system in Germany has been criticized for not being cause-based, which leads to inefficient incentives. The "first-come, first-served" principle in connecting renewable energy installations and the separate cost responsibility between plant and grid operators contribute to inefficiencies in the grid structure. This article analyzes economically sensible goals and provides practical reform proposals for the grid fee and connection systems to address these challenges.
