Energy transition: Open boiler room day

Shortly before Christmas, Rupert Mayer's 25-year-old oil heating system in Siegertsbrunn broke down. With rising energy costs and unclear laws, many Germans are in similar situations. The municipality is planning a district heating network. Mayer opted for a temporary solution with a buffer tank based on oil, but suitable for future district heating or a heat pump.

Anyone interested can see exactly what his temporary solution looks like this Saturday, 14 October, directly on site - at the open cellar day in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn. Then not only Rupert Mayer will open his house to the general public, but a total of ten private individuals will present their heating systems: from pellet heating to solar thermal systems to heat pumps. "The idea is that we create a low-threshold entry point to get citizens talking to each other about heating," says Herbert Palm. The physicist heads the Institute for Sustainable Energy Systems at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, lives in Siegertsbrunn himself and supports the community in the envisaged energy transition.
