Professor Christoph Hackl researches intelligent components for the energy transition at our institute. With his team, he optimises biogas, geothermal, photovoltaic, wind power or wave power plants, but also electric vehicles and electrical energy grids. The intelligent components (e.g. intelligent power electronic converters in electric vehicles or wind power plants) achieve high efficiency and reliability as well as extended functionality of the systems.

He told us more about his research area in an interview, in the context of his being awarded the Oskar von Miller Prize for Applied Research and Development Award in 2022.
