Meine Box App

14. March 2022.

Maschinenringe Deutschland GmbH is already designing sales boxes to offer farmers an independent B2C sales channel. The prototype of the "My Box App" developed by students at the Munich University and the University of Tampere (Finland) offers technologically optimized refill management for the sales boxes provided by Maschinenring. The idea of sales boxes arose from the farmers' desire to establish an independent B2C sales channel. However, one of the biggest problems with distributed sales boxes is the logistics, as a farmer cannot know how much stock is left in his box. This can create inefficiencies on both the farmer's and end customer's side, as farmers may not be able to sell products and customers may find empty sales boxes.

Lena-Maria Ruß, assistant to the management of Maschinenringe Deutschland GmbH, is convinced of the prototype: "The prototype of the Meine Box app comes with all the functionalities that we need for the launch of the app and the team even has ideas for further improvements to the app delivered. Working together was easy as we were able to discuss the status and further ideas in several review meetings.”

The challenge was processed as a joint project between the DTLab and the Co-Innovation-Lab of the Munich University of Applied Sciences. The Co-Innovation-Lab is an overarching concept for innovation projects between students and companies. For this purpose, temporary innovation partnerships - in the form of projects - are created between companies, students, and lecturers. Initiated by Prof. Holger Günzel and Prof. Lars Brehm (both Munich University), more than 25 innovation projects per year are currently being carried out, often interdisciplinary.

During the challenge, the students received support from AWS.
