CoCo App Accelerates Contact Tracking

08. April 2021.

Although the corona crisis has been going on for a year now, methods are still being sought to simplify the tracking of possible contacts of people infected with the corona virus. Together with the IT company Leitwert GmbH and Amazon Web Services, students from HM and TAMK (Tampere) created a working prototype for a software called CoCo, which tries to solve this problem. Its core task is to notify infected persons and their contacts via text message. In addition to putting out information on further behaviour, it collects data that helps public health departments classify contacts into risk categories and take appropriate action. It is hoped that this faster and more structured intervention will lead to a sustainable reduction in the number of infections.
